For the past seven years, the American Beverage Foundation for a Healthy America (ABFHA) has partnered with the U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM) to support the Childhood Obesity Prevention Awards. These grants, which are provided to mayors each January at UCSM’s annual meeting, seek to address childhood obesity in creative ways including programs to increase playtime, community gardening initiatives and more.

“We’re exceptionally proud of our partnership with the American Beverage Foundation for a Healthy America to invest in the health and well-being of children in America’s cities,” said Tom Cochran, USCM CEO and executive director.

Every year six winning cities are selected for grant awards to support innovative and impactful programs to combat childhood obesity in their community. To date, more than $2.6 million have been awarded to thirty-six cities from coast to coast.
