Recently, the American Beverage Association's (ABA) President and CEO, Katherine Lugar, sat down with NBC News to discuss our ambitious, unprecedented industry-wide initiative Every Bottle Back. The goal of Every Bottle Back is to reduce our industry's plastic footprint by using less new plastic and investing in efforts to get our valuable bottles back so we can remake them into new ones.

More from the interview:

"'Most consumers don't realize that every plastic bottle is generally recyclable,' explains Katherine Lugar the president & CEO of the American Beverage Association.

A new 'Every Bottle Back' initiative aims to change that. A joint-effort from Coca-Cola, Pepsi and Keurig Dr Pepper encourages consumers to put bottles and caps in the recycling bin.

'That will include an on package message starting next year to let them know it's 100% recyclable and to please give them back,' says Lugar."
