Last month, the American Beverage Association (ABA) honored several members of Congress with the "Job Saver Award" in recognition of their fight to preserve jobs across the country by opposing a federal tax on sugar-sweetened beverages.  This proposal would have threatened jobs and stymied job growth in an industry that provides hundreds of thousands of good-paying jobs in communities across America.  By opposing the tax on sugar-sweetened beverages, these representatives not only directly saved jobs n the beverage industry, but also worked to protect jobs in related industries where the tax would have had a less obvious impact - such as with retailers, convenience store workers and grocers across the country.

Earlier this week, several of these "Job Savers" won re-election in their states.  We at Sip & Savor would like to congratulate the following legislators not only for their fight to save jobs in their states, but also on their successful reelection: U.S. Reps. John Barrow, D-Ga.; Leonard Boswell, D-Iowa; G.K. Butterfield, D-N.C.; Joe Courtney, D-Conn.; Joe Crowley, D-N.Y.; Danny Davis, D-Ill.; Joe Donnelly, D-Ind.; Martin Heinrich, D-N.M.; Ron Kind, D-Wis.; Jim Matheson, D-Utah; Gregory Meeks, D-N.Y.; Mike Ross, D-Ark.; Bobby Rush, D-Ill.; and Mike Thompson, D-Calif.

We thank them once again for their support in the communities in which they - and our members - live and work, and wish them continued success in the 112th Congress!
