The Florida Beverage Association (FBA) and its member companies are promoting environmental health in Florida's communities. Santa Rosa County's Community-Based Green Infrastructure Stormwater Outreach and Education Program, which helps residents learn about environmental infrastructure and sustainability in their own backyards, was recently awarded a $12,000 grant from the FBA and the American Beverage Foundation for a Healthy America. "This funding will allow the county to present a program for property owners to use green infrastructure technology to reduce impacts from wet-weather events," said Shelly Alexander, environmental programs coordinator. 

According to a WEARTV article, the program the grant helps fund "will demonstrate the use of green infrastructure such as rain gardens, rain barrels, porous pavement, green roofs, trees and tree boxes and rainwater harvesting for landscape irrigation."

Florida's non-alcoholic beverage industry understands we all play a role in promoting environmental stewardship in our communities. "Education helps foster behavioral change towards community preservation and environmental sustainability.
