Heavy rains, severe flooding, power outages and strong winds caused by Hurricane Ida left much of the Gulf Coast in complete devastation.  The storm has passed but the rebuilding and recovering effort has just begun.

One of the most immediate needs following Hurricane Ida was access to clean drinking water.  Water lines throughout the region were wrecked by the storm so local bottlers from The Coca-Cola, Keurig Dr Pepper and PepsiCo systems quickly sprang into action ensuring residents and first responders had access to essential items, like water and food.

The Coca-Cola Company and bottling partner Coca-Cola United donated tens of thousands of cases of water and other beverages to frontline organizations.  Corinth Coca-Cola Bottling Group sprang into action sending a large, refrigerated trailer so that food and beverages remain cold during widespread power outages.  Additionally, The Coca-Cola Foundation awarded a grant of $750,000 to the American Red Cross to aid in hurricane recovery.

Keurig Dr Pepper delivered thousands of cases of safe drinking water building on their ongoing work to support relief efforts across the region.

PepsiCo and its philanthropic arm, The PepsiCo Foundation, committed more than $500,000 to support emergency food deliveries and rescue operations.  In partnership with the Salvation Army, Team Rubicon and the Greater New Orleans Foundations, the grant will help deliver 250,000 nutritious meals to families in need and support disaster relief efforts such as emergency search and rescue and temporary shelter for those unable to return home.

When natural disasters hit, the men and women of the beverage industry are in a unique position to help lend a hand to their neighbors in need.  They’ve been doing it for generations and will continue for generations to come.
