CAMPBELL COUNTY, Va.– American Beverage today announced a $163,500 grant to Campbell County, Va., to expand recycling access for more than 55,000 residents. This investment, made in collaboration with The Recycling Partnership, will fund new recycling compactors at four of the county's busiest drop-off centers to provide residents with more efficient, reliable recycling options for bottles and cans.

The funding will also support community education and outreach efforts to help residents understand recycling opportunities and best practices.

“Virginia’s beverage companies are committed to improving the state’s recycling systems with modern technology that helps remake our bottles and cans into new ones as intended,” said Suzanne Brooks, president of the Virginia Beverage Association. “We’re proud to be working with leaders in Campbell County to strengthen recycling and ensure that valuable, 100% recyclable materials are remade and not wasted in landfills.”

This project builds on the strong results of a pilot compactor installation at one Campbell County site, which demonstrated significant gains in efficiency and collection capacity. The new grant will expand this proven model, multiplying the environmental and operational benefits.

Over the next decade, these improvements are projected to keep 2 million pounds of recyclables, including 78,000 pounds of PET plastic and 26,000 pounds of aluminum out of landfills and the environment. These valuable materials can be remade into new beverage containers, reducing the use of new plastic and aluminum.

The project is the latest from Every Bottle Back^®, an initiative launched in 2019 by The Coca-Cola Company, Keurig Dr Pepper and PepsiCo in partnership with The Recycling Partnership and Closed Loop Partners. In total, investments across 73 communities have been made to date to yield 730 million new pounds of recycled PET and more than 47 million pounds of recycled aluminum over the next decade.
