New Investment Brings Curbside Recycling to Over 34,000 Residents

SAHUARITA, Ariz. – America’s beverage companies announced a new $97,400 investment today in Sahuarita to strengthen Arizona’s recycling infrastructure. This effort, in collaboration with The Recycling Partnership, will support the recycling efforts of more than 34,000 residents, bringing standardized 96-gallon curbside recycling carts to 14,500 households.

“This investment is about making it easier and more convenient for families to recycle, and to make recycling a part of everyday life in Sahuarita,” said Michael Gardner of the Arizona Beverage Association. “By providing households the tools and information they need to recycle more, and recycle better, we’re helping to ensure more of our bottles and cans are collected and remade as intended, rather than wasted.”

To ensure strong community participation from the outset, the initiative also includes a robust educational and outreach campaign to help residents build new and lasting recycling habits. Waste Connections of Arizona will provide the weekly curbside collection of both recycling and solid waste.

The new curbside carts provided across Sahuarita are expected to help divert an estimated 43.5 million pounds of recyclable materials from the landfill over the next decade, including nearly 1.7 million pounds of PET plastic and 56,550 pounds of aluminum.

This project is the latest milestone for Every Bottle Back—an initiative of The Coca-Cola Company, Keurig Dr Pepper and PepsiCo—that launched in 2019. In total, investments across 64 communities are estimated to yield more than 725 million new pounds of recycled PET and 46 million more pounds of recycled aluminum over the next decade.
