Recently we've blogged a lot about physical activity - after all, we all tend to be a bit more active once the weather starts to warm up.  Well, today is yet another day to remind folks about the importance of being physically active.  It's the first day of summer!

The first day of summer can mean a lot of things:  the last day of school, opening day for city pools, getting ready for camp, or simply a few more daylight hours to get outside.  So as you kick-off your summer, remember that there are lots of ways to be sure you get enough regular physical activity - a weekend game of golf with friends, a lunch time walk with colleagues, a leisurely bike ride with the kids...the list goes on.  All of these are simple ways to get in some extra time outdoors, enjoy a little bit of sunshine and burn off calories at the same time.

You can find out more about types and amounts of physical activity that can offer substantial health benefits by checking out the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services2008 Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans.

Happy Summer Solstice!
