These days, it’s not uncommon to hear exaggerations about the role that sugar-sweetened beverages play in the American diet.  The facts show that calories consumed from sugar-sweetened beverages have been on the decline for several years, in large part because of the continuous innovation by our member companies.  Through initiatives such as our School Beverage Guidelines and Clear on Calories labeling program, we continue to look for ways to educate consumers about the importance of balancing the calories they consume from all foods and beverages with the calories they burn through physical activity and exercise.

By continuing to deliver more choices – including many no- and lower-calorie options – and by putting clear calorie labels on our products, we empower consumers to make the choices that are right for them and at the same time remain leaders in the effort to combat obesity.
