Today marks the 241st birthday of the United States Marine Corps. The Marines were established by the Continental Congress in 1775 to serve as a special force during the Revolutionary War.

Since our nation’s War of Independence, the Marines have bravely served in every conflict in which the United States has fought. Known for their rigorous training and readiness, the Marines have the distinction of being the “first to fight.”

Today we salute all Marines for their courage, service and sacrifice. Semper Fi!
