Yesterday, the U.S. women’s soccer team secured a place in the World Cup Final for the first time in 12 years.  Early in the first half, U.S. forward Lauren Cheney landed the first goal of the game after receiving a beautiful ball from midfielder Heather O’Reilly.  But that one point lead just wasn’t enough as France ramped up the offense.  Goalkeeper Hope Solo kept them at bay for the remainder of the first half, but France got on the board 10 minutes into the second half, tying the score with a goal by Sonia Bompastor.  One thing is for sure – as the recent Nike television ad suggests – the ability to perform under pressure is what makes the U.S. women’s team.  And Team USA delivered - scoring in the 79th minute against France with a header by Abby Wambach off a corner kick delivered by Cheney that can only be described as incredible.  Just to ensure their spot in the final, rookie Alex Morgan scored the third and final goal in the 82nd minute, for a final score of 3-1. We would like to congratulate the women’s soccer team on their historic win!

Watching the Women’s World Cup reminds us of the importance of staying active.  So remember this summer to take some to get out there and get active.  And while you are out there, remember to stay hydrated!  It can be extremely easy to become dehydrated while doing activities in the heat – especially with the current heat wave.  So, select the beverage that’s right for youhydrate and cool off while you enjoy the Women’s World Cup Final this Sunday!

We at Sip & Savor wish Team USA the best of luck in the final!
