Yesterday, President Bill Clinton announced the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) Commitment with the Alliance for a Healthier Generation, ABA and America’s leading beverage companies to reduce beverage calories in the American diet.  This initiative is the singe-largest voluntary effort by an industry to help fight obesity and will transform the beverage landscape in America.

Our industry recognizes how we can accomplish much more by working together on the complex public health challenge of obesity.  And we are committed to supporting communities across America in doing so, first focusing within Los Angeles, Calif., and Little Rock, Ark.

Yesterday, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti said in a statement in the Los Angeles Daily News that “reducing obesity, heart disease and other calorie-connected threats requires a comprehensive approach… If cities increase open space and exercise opportunities to help people burn calories and if the private sector steps up to reduce consumption through initiatives like this, we can see real results.”

We’re proud to be part of meaningful solutions and continuing our successful partnership with the Alliance for a Healthier Generation and President Clinton.
