Last week, the ABA team joined Washington Parks & People in cleaning and greening its North Columbia Heights Green. With over 25 years of leading greening initiatives across the District, Washington Parks & People works to activate public lands and waters for broad community revitalization. Since 2010, the North Columbia Heights Green has been a community garden growing vegetables, herbs, berries, grapes, healing plants and native trees. In our afternoon, we were tasked with expanding the garden's perimeter fence, building a new compost bin and reconstructing a new stage after demolishing the existing one.
