This month Cheerwine is celebrating its 100th anniversary! In honor of the big event, here are a couple of quick facts about Cheerwine:

  1. Cheerwine is made, bottled and distributed in Salisbury, N.C.
  2. L.D. Peeler, the creator of Cheerwine, concocted it in 1917.
  3. It's the oldest, continuously operated, family-owned soft drink company in the U.S.
  4. Despite its name, Cheerwine isn’t actually wine. The deep red color is where the name comes from.
  5. Cheerwine was the first bottled cherry soda.
