WASHINGTON, D.C. – The American Beverage Association (ABA) today announced that Kevin Keane will serve as interim president and chief executive officer (CEO) effective immediately. Keane will succeed Katherine Lugar, who recently announced she will return to the hotel industry as executive vice president, Global Corporate Affairs, at Hilton.

“Kevin has an exceptional depth of knowledge and experience to bring to bear in this role, and we are fortunate to have his leadership and insights to guide the association,” said Matthew Dent, Chair of the ABA Board of Directors. “Throughout his time at ABA we have made great strides in areas Americans care about including improving our environmental sustainability practices, promoting balanced lifestyles, and advancing our broader leadership efforts. We look forward to Kevin’s continued partnership as interim CEO of ABA.”

In this capacity, Keane will provide day-to-day management and leadership of the industry trade group, working in close partnership with ABA’s full team, including Amy Hancock, general counsel, and Robb Micek, chief financial officer, and the ABA Board leadership, to advance its strategic priorities.

Keane has served on ABA’s leadership team since 2005 and has overseen a wide range of industry initiatives over the years while also managing a team in Washington, D.C., and in states across the country. Prior to his appointment as interim president and CEO, Keane served as executive vice president of the Government and Public Affairs department for the association.
